Christmas Holidays - Critical Investigation

Task 1-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg&ob=av2e

In this music video, throughout Rihanna's movements in the music video it connotes the way females are represented in urban music videos. The ways in which she does things in this music video signifies that females are looked at as "sex objects".

For example in this music video it shows clips of drugs being taken and then scenes of sexual nature occur after the drugs have been taken. this connotes that women are being taken advantage of and it is promoting this as Rihanna is a very famous hip hop artist.

Also in this music video the way Rihanna is dressed is very inappropriate for some people to watch and with the internet being the new market and growing worldwide it is very easy for anyone o access certain features they shouldn't be looking at. Rihanna's make up and the way in which she is dressed will appeal to the male audience and as she is a very popular artist in the music industry, teenage girl will look up to her as a role model.

Further examples of Rihanna is represented alternatively and as a sex object is when another clip in the music video where Rihanna is acting as a prostitute and throwing herself into this man. This connotes that she needs a man in her life, sexually and this brings out wrong messages to her audience as most of them are teenagers.

This is another video that shows how females are now being represented in urban music videos. The female artist in this music video is again Rihanna. In this music video "drink to that" Rihanna is shown to look as a "sex object" to mens point of views.

Rihanna in this music video is shown appealing to men. This is because she is dressed as a "slut" and is showing off her body parts in order to appeal to a wider audience. She is also drinking alcohol in a music video which connotes that she gets drunk and gets taken advantage of by the men in her music video.

An example of how Rihanna is being represented as a "slut" in this music video is when she is bending over in front of a man. This connotes that she likes being taken advantage of. This sends out bad signs to her audiences as they are mostly young teenagers and they look at her as a role model.

Task 3-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg&ob=av2e

Simililarties, Differences - The similarities to this text and my critical investigation is that they both focus on female representations. It focuses on how Rihanna is sexualisaed and shown in her music videos. It also asks questions as to how this has an influence on todays society.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR0v0i63PQ4&feature=g-vrec&context=G28d31edRVAAAAAAAAAA

Similarities, Differences - The similarities in this text and my critical investigation is that they both focus on females and hip hop and how they are sexualised also what ideologies or messages this brings out, however differences is that they challenge the stereotype stating, as Rihanna is being shown so explicit, isnt she gaining a bigger fan base and becoming more dominant?..
Rihanna_415.jpg

Similarities, Differences- The similarities are that my text talks about how hip hop stars such as rihanna are being sexualised in music videos and just by looking at this photo of Rihanna you can tell how sexualised she is in her music videos and what this message sends across. Differences is that she looks as if she is dominant and in control of the music industry in Hop Hop.

Similarities, Differences- The similarities are that this pictures agrees that hip hop artists are "too" sexualised in music videos. However challenges it by stating that by being "too" sexualised they gain dominance.

Task 4-

Task 5-

How far has sexualisation in music videos progressed over the years and how is this shown in Rihanna's videos "we found love" and "drink to that"..

Introduction Paragraph-

In this paragraph for my critical investigation i will be doing the following. first i will be introducing my critical investigation and what it is about. Then i will be talking about how this may be challenged and how this is shown in music videos.

I will then be adding in a few quotations that would help the audience gain an idea of what my critical investigation is all about.

Finally i will be finalising my introduction and introducing my first paragraph.

Paragraph 1-

In this paragraph i will be talking about how sexualisation in music videos has progressed over the years. How this has happened and has it changed how people view music videos, if so in what ways.

I will then introduce Rihanna the music artist and give examples of how this is shown in her music videos. Go into detail about some clips/shots in her music videos about how she is shown to be sexualised and what affect this has.

I will then give quotations to top of the paragraph on what people think of Rihanna and if they think this is right.

Paragraph 2-

In this paragraph i will go into detail in Rihanna's music videos we found love and drink to that. I will be explaining how these videos promote sexualisation in music videos and how by Rihanna doing this she is gaining dominance, or is she..

I will then be adding quotations in this paragraph signifying how successful female sexualisation is becoming in music videos.

Paragraph 3-

In this paragraph, i will be arguing the case of how successful female sexualisation in music videos is becoming.

I will be talking challenging Rihanna's videos we found love and drink to that, and talk about how she is being "used"

I will be adding quotes going against female sexualisation in music videos.

Paragraph 4-

In this paragraph i will be going into detail as to how Rihanna's sexualisation is music videos is wrong and that she looks like a "sex object" or a "prostitute" almost.

I will also be talking about how powerful the internet is especially youtube in broadcasting music videos. I will be talking about how "free" the internet is towards its audience and how this affects young children.

Then i will be adding quotations about how Rihanna's exploitations are forbidden in society. Giving parents views on the artist herself and what they think is wrong with her music videos.

Paragraph 5-

In this paragraph i will talking on both sides of the argument signifying which side is stronger/dominant. What people think of Rihanna and if they think what she is doing is wrong or not.

I will also be adding quotes as to reasons for and against the argument.

Paragraph 6-

In this paragraph i will be concluding my critical investigation by giving my opinion on a whole!!

How far has sexualisation in music videos has progressed over the years and how is this shown in Rihanna's videos "we found love" and "drink to that"..

Task 6-

Nowadays, sexualisation in music videos has changed the way women are looked at in our society. Has the music industry become that powerful? Well in this critical investigation i will looking at how Hip Hop artists such as Rihanna are sexualised in music videos and how this has an influence on the music industry. "Boys are all heading to an adulthood of deeply confused - and, potentially, deeply misogynist - attitudes to women". This qoutation can relate to my critical investigation as it can suggest that because of the way Hip Hop artists such as Rihanna are being sexually flaunted in her music videos it changed the way boys or men look at women as a whole.

The introduction of new and digital media has been one of the main causes  of how sexualisation in music videos has become so popular. The internet is open to a world-wide audience and it is becoming increasingly popular to have access the internet. A website on the internet that audiences view music videos on everyday is Youtube. Youtube is a very powerful user generted wensite which allows people to upload videos so that anyone can view them. Music videos on Youtube are becoming increasingly popular, especially in Hip Hop. This is because Hip Hop consists of urban characters singing and being sexualised in their music videos. An example of an extremely popular Hip Hop artist who is sexualised in literally every music video she produces in Rihanna. "Earlier this week the pop star Rihanna was unrepentant for filming a music video in which she shoots someone who raped her. She has faced massive criticism from parent groups in America". This quotation proves the point that Rihanna's sexualisation in her music videos is becoming too ixplicit.
